Barcelona go 3 points clear over Real Madrid through a huge 7-1 victory over Osasuna as Mascherano scores his first goal for the Spanish club.
Even with a number of starters resting, Barcelona made quick work of Osasuna, who edged ever closer to relegation with the result. Messi continued the sparkling form he showed in the Clasico, while Andre Gomes enjoyed arguably his best performance in a Barcelona shirt.
The match also saw a first ever goal for Javier Mascherano in a Barcelona shirt, a span of 319 matches. Most importantly for Luis Enrique, a number of key players were rested for the Saturday derby clash versus Espanyol.
From a footballing perspective, outside of a few nervy moments early in the second half, it was total domination from Barcelona and another boost of confidence as the La Liga title race enters its critical phase.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique made a number of changes from the team that triumphed in Madrid on Sunday. First and foremost there was a change in formation, with the Asturian reverting back to the 3-4-3 that has at times served them well this season.
